Yellow Fever Vaccine Shortage

Sanofi Pasture, the manufacturer of the only Yellow Fever vaccine approved for use in the United States, recently announced that they are experiencing delays in the production of Yellow Fever Vaccine resulting in a limited supply. It is anticipated that the vaccine will be unavailable from mid 2017 to mid 2018.

The FDA is working closely with Sanofi Pasture in an effort to protect those who travel to Yellow Fever endemic areas by making another Yellow Fever vaccine called Stamaril available once the current supply of Yellow Fever vaccine is depleted. Stamaril vaccine is manufactured in France and currently distributed to over 70 countries. Stamaril will be offered in a limited number of clinical sites in each state. The CDC has not yet announced what clinical sites will offer Stamaril vaccine.

Arcadia Physicians Travel Clinic is a certified Yellow Fever vaccination clinic. We have been doing our best to stock up on our inventory of Yellow Fever vaccine and will offer it to our patients as long as we are able to. We expect to have the vaccine available for the next several weeks. Areas of Yellow Fever risk are in parts of Africa and South America. If you are planning a trip to a Yellow Fever endemic area, don’t delay in scheduling you pre travel consultation.
